It’s time one again for State Parks Day! June 1st Oregon State Parks will be offering free camping and day use in all 258 of our parks!
All campsites, excluding cabins, are free June 1st at Cottonwood. Extra vehicle charges will also be waived.

To celebrate, join us in our park-wide (and state-wide) scavenger hunt

Here’s how it works: We will be placing three ammo boxes throughout the park. One in our day use area, and two in our back country. Inside each box is a voucher for a limited edition State Parks Day pin. Take one of these vouchers to a staff member to trade it to redeem your pin. We will leave the boxes in the field until all pins have been claimed.

Need more to do while you’re here? Free fishing weekend in Oregon falls on June 1st and 2nd. With the fish biting and the sun shining, bring out the family for a day on the water. Check out the ODFW website for events statewide.
Can’t make it to the park? That’s fine. Oregon State Parks will be offering events across the state! Check out the Oregon State Parks website for details on all the statewide events.
Evan, will all parks have the ammo boxes with vouchers in them?

No, not all parks will have these. At this time, I can only speak for what we are doing at Cottonwood Canyon. Each park will have a different method for distributing pins, and visitors should ask park staff what they need to do to get one.
The following parks should have pins available:
Coast
Bullards Beach State Park
Cape Arago State Park
Cape Lookout State Park
Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint
Crissey Field State Recreation Site
Fort Stevens State Park
Humbug Mountain State Park
Shore Acres State Park
Sunset Bay State Park
William M. Tugman State Park
Columbia River Gorge
Ainsworth State Park
Guy W. Talbot State Park
Willamette Valley
Champoeg State Heritage Area
Dexter State Recreation Area
Elijah Bristow State Park
Fort Yamhill State Heritage Area
Silver Falls State Park
Thompson’s Mills State Heritage Area
Cascade Range and Central Oregon
LaPine State Park
Prineville Reservoir State Park
The Cove Palisades State Park
Tumalo State Park
Southern and Eastern Oregon
Collier Memorial State Park
Clyde Holliday State Park
Cottonwood Canyon State Park
Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area
Farewell Bend State Recreation Area
Hat Rock State Park
Joseph H. Stewart State Recreation Area
Lake Owyhee State Park
Minam State Recreation Area
Sumpter Valley Dredge State Heritage Site
TouVelle State Recreation Site
Valley of the Rogue State Park
Wallowa Lake State Park
Wolf Creek Inn
Wish we could be there to find the box. And claim a pin. But we have to cover OPLI that day.
We miss you too.
